Hilo Bay Hostel occupies a lovingly restored historic 1913 hotel with classic European charm and comforts. The original grand wooden staircase opens to an large, welcoming common area with 13-foot high ceilings. The building is one of the oldest surviving wooden structures on the island, but it also has plenty of modern ammenities.
The bath, shower rooms and kitchen/break room are all brand new. There is high-speed Internet access and cable television, an outside patio garden area, free coffee and tea, a billiard table, storage lockers, free local phone calls and more.
Located in the heart of historic downtown Hilo, within an easy walk to: bus stops, farmers market, cinema, restaurants, shops, museums, library, post office & of course beautiful Hilo Bay. Hilo Bay Hostel is also ideally located to visit nearby tropical rainforests, hike to scenic waterfalls, or explore Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, where Kilauea Volcano has been erupting continuously since 1983.
