Koloa City Guide
Historic Koloa on the south shore of Kauai is known for being the site of Hawaii's first sugar mill. Koloa is also the proud home of Poipu Beach once name America's best beach by The Travel Channel. Visiting Poipu beach thier selection quickly seems likely as it is home to the endangered Hawaiian monk seal, giant sea turtles and the humuhumunukunukuapuaa fish, the state Fish of Hawaii. During the winter months you can even see humpback whales pasing by out in The surf !
Back in town you can enjoy a stroll down Koloa Rd. and take in the shops which now occupy the buildings left by the plantations of old Hawaii. While you are there stop by the koloa History Center to learn about the history of Koloa and the first sugar mill. after a day of playing in the surf, and browsing the shops you can stop by Lapperd's Ice Cream Shop to enjoy a bit of modern Koloa sweetness.
