Lanai Island Guide

Lanai is located between Maui and Molokai, and is one on the smallest of the main Hawaiian islands. Lanai is also known as the pineapple island, because at one time nearly the entire island was a large pineapple plantation belonging to Hawaiian Pineapple Company, which is now known as Dole. The only city on the island is Lanai City. Accommodations on Lanai are few, but there are two large resorts that both have their own golf course.
Because Lanai is small and little developed, it is a great destination for adventure travel. Lanai played host to the kayaking challenge in the final episode of The Amazing Race 11. Many of the attractions on Lanai such as Puu Pehe, or Sweetheart Rock, and Keahikawelo, a.k.a. Garden of the Gods, are only accessible by hiking, or four wheel drive vehicles.
