Kihei City Guide
Kihei, located on the south shore of Maui, is one of the driest places on the island. Today the the never ending bright sunny days make the beaches in Kihei a favorite destination for beachgoers, however from the early 1900's, up until the late 1960's the lack of water kept the area all but undeveloped. When water was eventually diverted from the mountains and valleys of central Maui, Kihei became a favorite of budget conscious vacationers almost overnight.
A short 15 minute drive from Kahului Airport, Kihei has an abundance of accommodations, shops restaurants, beaches and night life. Nearly every hotel is right along the shoreline, and has a beach just across the street. Kihei has so much to offer that if it wasn't for all of Maui's must see natural wonders, you could spend an entire vacation in Kihei, without running out of things to do.
