Kaunakakai City Guide
Kaunakakai is located in the center of the south shore of Molokai. Just a few miles down the road is the islands only airport. Kaunakakai is also home to the islands only major port. Characteristic of Molokai, Kaunakakai has no building "taller than a coconut tree", and many of the buildings date to the 19th and early 20th century. If you are seeking a true taste of "Old Hawaii" you cant do much better than Kaunakakai.
The main street in town is a mere three blocks long, yet has shops that can provide all the essentials. Kaunakakai is truly a no frills town, mainly because there isn't any room. If you are looking for action packed adventure you wont find it here. What you will find is probably one of the most relaxed, laid back places in Hawaii, perfect if you want to literally get away from it all.
