Kailua City Guide
Kailua is located on the Eastern shore of Oahu, and boasts some of Oahu's finest beaches. If your idea of adventure includes S.C.U.B.A, snorkeling, kayaking, sail boarding, kite boarding, wake boarding, para-sailing or wind surfing, then you will most definitely want to sped some time in Kailua. Although Kailua is mainly a residential area, there are many shops and tour companies around Kailua, so getting the gear for your adventures is no problem. The best known beaches of the area are Kailua beach park and Lani Kai both of which have won the honors of Worlds Best Beach, many times over, one travel guide even "retired" Kailua beach from consideration for their Best Beach list to give other beaches a chance!
Kailua Beach Park is easily accessible, and has parking available. The park has built in concrete barbecue grills, a great way to enjoy a meal with friends. There is also a Kayak rental stand right there at the park making it simple to go for a paddle on the bay. Lani Kai, while slightly less accessible, offers some of the finest white sand you will ever see on a beach. The baby powder fine white sand, sparkling waters, and gorgeous scenery make Lani Kai a favorite spot for professional photo shoots.
